All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE Exam)

All India Engineering Entrance Exam

AIEEE Exam

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination commonly known as AIEEE, is organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India, covering every state and Union Territories. It was introduced in the year 2002, this national level competitive exam is for admission to various under-graduate engineering (multiple fields) and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, which includes 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and 5 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs).The examination was generally held on the last Sunday of April, which is routinely followed year after year, and results are announced in the last week of May or the first week of June at maximum.
Candidates are ranked in two ways: all-India basis and state basis. Thus, they have an All India Rank (AIR) and a State Rank (SR) in their score card.

The current system of exams underwent a change from this academic year onwards:
As per the AIEEE 2013 New Pattern from this year onwards there will be no AIEEE and IIT JEE as usual as they will be replaced by JEE Main 2013 and JEE Advanced 2013, thus making it even more competitive and unquestionable.

The chief characteristic features of AIEEE 2013 New Pattern are:

  • JEE Main 2013 will be conducted for admissions in NIT’s, IIIT’s and other government colleges in both online as well as offline mode.
  • The top 1.5 lakh rankers of JEE Main 2013 will then sit for the next level examinations for admission in IITs –called JEE Advanced 2013, subject to the condition that they are also figure in top 20 percentile in their respective boards as per the AIEEE 2013 New Pattern.
  • The final merit calculations for both the exams will be done by giving 40% weightage to the marks of board exams.
  • There is a provision added in AIEEE 2013 New Pattern for the students who have passed their 12th class exams in 2012 i.e.in the previous year, that they can go for a re – exam and thus improve their percentile scores.

AIEEE lacks the persona of IIT JEE. But it doesn’t mean that it is any less tougher. Without sound knowledge of the fundamentals, one cannot think about clearing the exam. Unlike IIT, a larger percent of students would be prepared to clear it hence making it tougher. If you have to go ahead, one’s preparations has to be bigger. Time is your best friend and biggest enemy. So try to keep it as your friend.
