CMS Exam
The Combined Medical Services Examination or the CMS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment of Medical Officer in various organizations such as the Indian Ordnance Factories, Indian Railways etc. which are functioning under the Government of India. Successful Candidates are admitted after an interview conducted by the UPSC for those candidates who have qualified the written examination.
The Combined Medical Services Examination for the year 2013 will be held on 30th June, 2013, in accordance with the rules published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The services or posts to which recruitment is to be made on results of this exams are

  • Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railway.
  • Assistant Medical officer in Indian Ordnance Factories .
  • Health Service Junior Scale Posts in Central Heath. Services General Duty Medical Officer Gr-II in East Delhi. Municipal Corporation and South Delhi General Duty. Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council .

Eligibility Criteria for CMS Exam

For admission through the Examination, a candidate must have passed the written and practical parts of the Final MBBS Examination. (Candidate who has appeared or yet to appear in the final MBBS exam can also apply) Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional, subject to satisfying the foretold eligibility conditions. Mere issues of e-Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that the commission has finally cleared his candidature. Verification of the eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidates has requested for Interview/Personality Test.

How To Apply

Candidates are required to apply through online by visiting the website: www.upsconline.nic.in.

Note: Shortlisted/Eligible candidates will be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available in the UPSC website (www.upsc.gov.in) for downloading by candidates. No Admission Certificate shall be sent thrugh post. All the applicants are required to provide valid and active E-Mail ID while filling up Online Application form as the Commission may use electronic more to contact candidates.

CMS Exam Pattern

Part I is written examination of 500 marks. The candidates will take the written examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each paper would be of 2 hours duration. Part II is personality test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the results of the written examination.

There will be negative marking of 1/3 of mark for each incorrect answer provided by the candidate.

Age Criteria for CMS Exam

There is definite limit for the age of the candidate who is applying for admission. It has been fixed at 32 years. General category candidates have this fixed age limit, for others, i.e. SC/ST/OBC, there is further relaxation in age.
