India’s premier most institute for technical studies, IIT, fashions itself at the very top of education system in India. It provides various under graduate, post graduate and Ph.D courses in multiple streams. Often IIT’s are ranked among the top institutes around the world. Still they have to travel a lot in terms of breaking into the top 10. They are governed by Institute of Technology Act, 1961 in which they are described as “the institute of national importance”. Currently there are 16 IIT’s present in various parts of India, trying to deliver world class study and research environment for its students. State of the art features have been installed in the premises of the iconic institutes. They are present at Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Indore, Jodhpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Mumbai, Patna, Ropar, Roorkee and Varanasi.

Such a premier institute will have no ordinary admission procedure. Students have to prepare for perhaps the most rigorous exam in their whole life. There are 2 papers of 3 hours each and all three subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Maths are present.


Commited preparation is required for any JEE aspirant. Syllabus includes that of Class XIth and XIIth. Questions are never direct, they are sophisticated so as to check whether the candidate is able to apply his analytical and problem solving skill of a different magnitude. Thankfully with ideal preparation and confidence, IIT is no more a nightmare for hard workers.

HOW TO APPLY FOR IIT JEE EXAM

JEE & IITJEE registration is only done through online. The new proposal requires a student to go through two sets of admission procedure in order to step foot on IIT. He has to clear the JEE Mains and then he will have a crack at IIT JEE.

FOR JEE MAINS:

1. For applying online, the student has to visit the official website of JEE, http://jeemain.nic.in/
2.  Click on the new registration tab.
3. Corresponding to the details asked, enter the valid and correct information. False information could lead to cancellation of registration.
4.  Once all details are filled, click on “Submit”.
5. On submittion, your User Id and Password will be displayed.
6. Now login using the above details and follow the instructions stated there.
7.   Once the filling if details are done, it is time for payment.

The cost of the form are Rs. 800 for General and OBC students and Rs. 400 for SC/ST candidates. After details are entered, they can take a print out and attach a demand draft of the respective amounts and send it to CBSE Head Office in New Delhi.

FOR IIT JEE:

1.  Go to the link http://www.jee.iitd.ac.in/ (IIT DELHI in this instance, candidate can choose from their nearest IIT) and click on “Apply Online”.
2.   All the required details are to be filled correctly.
3.   Once clicking on “Submit”, fill the form provided.

Fees for IIT JEE exam are as follows

  • Rs. 1800 – for General and OBC candidates.
  • Rs. 900 – for SC/ST candidates.
  • Rs. 0 – for Girls.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Candidate must be passed Class XIIth examination or its equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.

2. Candidates who are appearing in Class XII, are also eligible to apply and give exam.
3. Admission criteria in the concerned institute/university will be followed as per the guidelines of AICTE.
4. Date of Birth given in the Secondary Education Board/ University certificates will only be considered.

YEAR AND LIST OF QUALIFYING EXAMS FOR JEE 2013:

1. Candidates who have passed +2 exams and those who are going to give exam in the present calendar year as eligible to apply.

2. Two year pre-university education or intermediate from a recognized board/ university.
3. Appearing in the final exam of Joint Services Wing.
4. Passed +2 from a private school/board/ university mentioned under the Association of Indian Universities.
5.    3 or 4 year diploma recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education.
6.    Candidates who have taken atleast 5 subjects in class XIIth.
7.    Candidates of General and OBC should secure 60 percent marks while SC/ST candidates must secure 5 percent of marks.

NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS

The earlier system of JEE permitted only 2 attempts at admission. With the implementation of new system, the number has gone up by one, i.e. 3.

IIT JEE earmarks as one of the toughest exams to clear. With a lot of things at stake, it is hardly a surprise that the premier most institutes welcomes only the premier most students of the country.

IITJEE is easy for them, who not only possesses passion for studies but takes little pressure out of every situation. When study becomes a game for you, your chances of cracking the JEE increases. There is only one key to success, hard work. Enjoy life but study harder. The goal should not be just to crack the ultimate exam, but it is to grab all the fundamentals related to that particular subject. The ultimate prize, a seat at the prestigious college of our country, to study among the brightest of all, to be taught by the best faculties in the country, it is nothing lesser than a dream. To live that dream in the future, one has to work hard and live in the present, preparing and hoping for a bright tomorrow.
