The UPSC has announced the Common Engineering Services Examination 2013 (CESE) for recruitment of candidates to the various Group A & Group B service posts to be filled through this exam. Interested candidates must check for the eligibility criteria and apply only if they are fulfilling them. Applications are online only and have to be submitted by May 6, 2013.

Common Engineering Services Examination (CESE Exam) has following Subjects:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering
UPSC Common Engineering Services Examination Eligibility:

  • Nationality: The candidate must be an India Citizen,
OR

A subject of Nepal/Bhutan/Tibetan refugee/ Person of Indian Origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam to settle in the country. Such candidates must furnish proof of the above said. 

  • Age Limit: Candidate must be between 21 to 30 years as on August 1, 2013.
  • Academic Eligibility: Candidate with Degree in Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent. Candidates with M.Sc. degree/ its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain Services/posts only.
Final year students are eligible to apply provided that they submit proof when specified.

UPSC Combined Engineering Services  Paper Pattern: Total Marks are 1000 in addition to Personality Test marks.

Paper I: Objective type for 200 Marks

Questions will be on General ability:
  • Part A: General English
  • Part B: General Studies
Paper II & III: Objective type for 200 Marks per paper
Subjects:

  • Civil Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering.
  • Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering.
Paper IV & V: Conventional Question Paper for 200 marks per paper

Subjects

  • Civil Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering.
  • Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering.

Personality Test: There will be an additional Personality Test for 200 Marks

UPSC Combined Engineering Services 2013 Application Procedure

  • Application Fee: Rs 200 (Female /SC /ST /Physically Handicapped candidates are exempted from any fee payment).
  • Remit the amount in any branch of SBI by cash.
OR

Use net banking facility of SBI/ State bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Travancore for the payment.OR


Use  Credit/ Debit Card (Visa/ Master only) 

  • SEND the proof of fee payment by hand/post/courier to the address mentioned below within 10 days of the payment made.
Note: Candidates should fill in the details in Registration 

Part 1 form.
Part 2 has to be filled in only after students qualify for the initial exam.
